Florida Poverty Trends is a data analytics project that examines how poverty rates have evolved across Florida counties from 2012-2024, with a particular focus on Hillsborough County (Tampa) and its economic resilience over time.

The Challenge

Understanding regional poverty trends requires analyzing long-term data and comparing counties with diverse economic conditions, demographics, and recovery patterns.

The Solution

Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, I developed a multi-year analytical dataset and interactive Tableau dashboards to evaluate poverty trends across Florida counties. The analysis revealed that Hillsborough County's poverty rate declined from 17.2% to 13.2%, demonstrating steady improvement and resilience through the COVID-19 period.

Challenge

Crime is influenced by multiple socio-economic factors, making it difficult to identify which variables have the strongest impact and how changes in economic conditions affect public safety over time.

Solution

Using data from the FBI Crime Data API and U.S. Census Bureau, I built an analytics pipeline to collect, clean, and analyze state-level crime and economic data. Interactive Tableau dashboards revealed a $69,000 household income threshold beyond which crime rates stabilize, while highlighting the relationship between income inequality and violent crime.

I designed a STAR schema data warehouse and ETL pipeline to unify EV, income, and tax-exemption data from 2010-2024. SQL-based analysis revealed a strong correlation (0.68) between household income and EV adoption, while highlighting regional and manufacturer-specific adoption patterns.

Bouldering is a climbing style performed on small rock formations or artificial walls without ropes, focusing on short, highly technical paths called "problems." Solving climbing routes requires strategic planning, spatial awareness, and problem-solving, turning every route into a three-dimensional physical chess puzzle.

Astrophotography is the specialized art of photographing night skies, celestial bodies, and deep-space nebulae. Capturing the Milky Way or distant celestial structures requires long exposures, camera tracking mount calibration, and specialized photo processing pipelines. It merges high-precision hardware calibration with absolute creative patience. Standing in complete silence under a clear, unpolluted night sky waiting for long-exposure sensors to collect photons is incredibly grounding.

Creating modular ambient music involves routing control voltage (CV) and audio signals through eurorack synthesizer modules to generate evolving textures, melodies, and soundscapes. By patching oscillators, filters, and delay modules together, the synth becomes a living, breathing sound instrument. It is essentially visual coding but with sound electricity. There are no presets in eurorack modular; every organic note, tone, and rhythmic pattern must be patched from scratch using physical cables, producing entirely unique audio experiences.

Culinary arts and modernist cooking focus on precision temperature controls, sous-vide water circulation, artisanal sourdough fermentation, and flavor profiling. Preparing dishes involves balancing acid, heat, fat, and textures to elevate simple ingredients. Cooking is a creative sensory chemistry experiment. Following a recipe is like compiling code, but tweaking ingredients on the fly is where the true artistic improvisation and delicious outcomes happen.

Exploring mountain ranges provides a deep escape from screen time and absolute immersion in natural landscapes. It is the ultimate way to disconnect from digital structures. Hiking miles of mountain vertical gain teaches physical resilience, navigation, and trail safety while offering unmatched panoramic views.

Strength and conditioning fitness revolves around calisthenics, functional bodyweight movements, gymnastic ring training, and muscle endurance. Maintaining physical strength ensures high mental energy levels, structural body health, and focus. It establishes a consistent daily discipline. The feedback loop in fitness is completely objective; training regularly builds stamina, improves focus, and keeps my body resilient during long desk cycles.
